Vice President, Project Lead

Our client is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing novel medicines. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Vice President, Project Lead.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Drives one or more molecule programs and leads the Project Team(s).
  • Ensures that relevant functions are represented on the Program Core Team.
  • Ensures that key stakeholders are kept up to date on relevant information about the program(s).
  • Leads and manages the preparation and communication of relevant project updates.
  • Presents development strategy and updates to multiple stakeholders, and is responsible for regular progress updates to senior management.
  • Ensures that Clinical Development and Regulatory plans/strategies are prepared and aligned with the TPP and Development Plan Strategy.
  • Assumes ownership of all project decisions between stages of the program to achieve project deliverables and timelines.
  • Conducts continuous project risk assessments and implements appropriate mitigations.
  • Ensures that deviations from the approved project strategy, timelines, or resource allocations are assessed and mitigation strategies enabled.
  • Ensures that integration of new projects progress according to plan and risks affecting resources or timelines are assessed and mitigated.
  • Responsible for the project budget and management of project resources.
  • Collaborates with the Program Core Team in developing project deliverables.
  • Participates in business development evaluations, as appropriate.
  • Presents the Project Team endorsed project strategy and plans for approval at the programs staged reviews.
We seek candidates with the following qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (M.D or Ph.D) required. MD/PhD highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience with a focus on global roles required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience leading high complexity cross-functional projects required.
  • Must have experience with Phases I-III. Phase IV experience highly preferred.
  • The demonstrated ability to effectively develop, communicate and gain support for strategic plans with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Cellular therapy/hematology/oncology/transplant experience highly preferred.
  • Requires solid understanding of, and experience with, project planning tools and processes.
  • Must have experience with top level academic and/or management presentations.
  • Requires strong leadership skills, including the ability to “influence without authority” and lead by example, create high performance teams, and share the team vision while maintaining a link to operational targets.
  • Seeks to win support from others within and outside the Company in order to advance objectives using reasoning, persuasive arguments, and networking.
  • The demonstrated ability to analyze business problems and issues to reach innovative, cost-effective, and timely decisions.
  • Understanding of regional issues from a payer base and experience working with business development, commercial, and medical affairs organizations highly preferred.
  • Requires fluency in written and spoken English.
