SVP R&D

Our client is drug discovery and development company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a SVP R&D.
Major tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Reports to CEO.
- Provides leadership for direct reports, and ensures the highest caliber of internal staff.
- Manages overall R&D strategy, planning, execution, and advancement of the company’s pipeline.
- Ensures smooth transition from research into development.
- Ensures that R&D strategies are compliant, and executed in a timely manner within budget.
- Oversees and integrates all R&D functions.
- Creates an appropriate balance of infrastructure and outsourcing.
- Identifies new opportunities for the company, and oversees the identification and evaluation of potential licensing and/or partnering opportunities.
- Initiates, manages, and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensures an effective network of partners and collaborators.
- Serves on Joint Steering Committees and Joint Development Committees.
- Represents the company as the senior R&D spokesperson.
We seek candidates with the following qualifications:
- Advanced degree required. (MD or PhD)
- Must have 15+ years of direct drug discovery and clinical development experience.
- Subspecialty training or experience in infectious diseases highly preferred.
- Requires experience building and leading an exceptional R&D capability, with external alliances, collaborations, and outsourcing.
- Must have in depth understanding of the drug discovery and development process.
- Requires demonstrated strategic leadership and participation in regulatory submissions, with experience participating and overseeing new drug approvals.
- Must have the proven ability to lead and inspire high-performance teams with a hands-on approach.
- Experience in both large and small company settings, and in an entrepreneurial environment, highly preferred.
